March 2022

view over Marlborough Downs

Another busy year has begun on the farm and in the cottages and spring is definitely here – we have just found a robin nesting in our straw bales.  Typical!  Having just put up new nesting boxes they still choose the most inconvenient place but we will make sure they go undisturbed until they have fledged and take the straw from a different part of the stack!

The cottages have had their spring clean and are ready to welcome you all to stay again – we have many regular guests who some back to enjoy our very special bit of Wiltshire and all the Pewsey Vale has to offer. The Pewsey Vale Circular Way has just been launched for walkers, cyclists and horse riders all the details are on the website our cottages are in a great spot if you fancy a few days doing parts (or all) of the trail.  There are more ideas for ways of getting out and enjoying the wonderful unspoilt area on the North Wesssex Downs AONB website as well as much more information about the special countryside around us.

Many of the routes can include a break at one of the great local pubs – there are a lot to choose from but some of our favourites are The Swan at Wilton, The Bell at Ramsbury, The Crown and Anchor at Ham and The Three Tuns in Bedwyn. All of these serve great food and have wonderful walks nearby. The Swan and the Three Tuns are both perfect  stops if you are walking straight from the cottages.

Whatever you get up to whilst you are here we hope that you will enjoy our super comfortable cottages and find a warm Wiltshire welcome wherever you go.
