The Stables and the Hen House at Manor Farm – December 23

A huge thank you to all of our guests for visiting us this year. Whatever the reason for your visit we hope that you’ve had a great time in The Stables and The Hen House and judging by the number of repeat bookings we guess that you like it here almost as much as we do! I went through our guest books the other wet afternoon and picked out some of the words that come up most often….. “peaceful; comfortable beds; clean; great walking; escape from the everyday; relaxing; en suites to each room; ducks; perfect for family get together; loved The Swan pub” All these comments mean such a lot to our small business and our tiny team of helpers who we couldn’t manage without so a big shout out to Maria who helps to keep the cottages so beautifully clean and tidy and Michaela who heroically irons the endless bags of bed linen for us.

As most of you will know, we are a small family business, these cottages are not second homes that we choose to rent out now and again, they were converted from redundant farm buildings and are now an important part of our set-up which help us to carry on our traditional mixed farming in an unpredictable farming world. We carry out our farming operations with the environment, wildlife and soils at the top of our list of priorities so please feel good about booking with us….you are supporting a small business; help to provide employment in a rural area as well as supporting other small local businesses (Bill in The Swan in particular!) and we couldn’t do all of this without you! Thank you.

What have we got planned for 2024? Well, in the cottages largely more of the same – providing stylish, high quality, super comfortable cottages at a reasonable price. Our prices are largely staying the same with just a small increase for shorter breaks to reflect the higher costs of laundry etc. We are introducing better value mid week breaks (4 nights for the price of 3) and extending the periods off season that we welcome guests for just 2 nights. We know that time is precious and a quick escape (without extra days off work) are so valuable. We have always welcomed dogs at The Stables and from January we are changing our no dog policy in The Hen House and 1 small dog will be welcome to join you. We love our small furry friends too and wouldn’t go away without them so hopefully this will appeal and work well for people with just 1 small dog. With fantastic walking right from the door and a 6 acre village green nearby we are sure you and your dogs will have a good time.

We really hope that you will find time to visit us again in 2024 or to recommend us to your friends and family. We feel incredibly lucky to be so busy in the cottages and get a real buzz when you choose to come back for more! If you book with us before the end of January and mention the word “Kestrel” (they nest in the barn opposite the cottages) we will reward you with 5% off and a big pat on the back for reading to the end of this newsletter! Just email me pip@manorfarmeastgrafton.co.uk and I will adjust the price of your booking.

Sending you Seasons Greetings and a happy and healthy 2024! Pip & James and the rest of the team at Manor Farm.
